Over $100 million stolen from Tron founder Justin Sun’s Poloniex crypto exchange

The crypto currency market faces a new multi- million aire criminal event on November 10. On this Friday, more than $117 million was reportedly stolen from Poloniex, a centralized exchange owned by Justin Sun, founder of Tron (TRX). Justin Sun commented on X at 11:42 am UTC about the hack incident: “We are currently investigating the Poloniex hack incident. Poloniex maintains a healthy financial position and will fully reimburse the affected funds. Institute for blockchain and crypto research opens in France

The Institute of Crypto-Assets held a formal opening at the Léonard de Vinci center in the business district just outside of Paris. On Nov. 8, the first-of-its-kind Institute of Crypto-Assets held a formal opening at the Léonard de Vinci center in the business district just outside of Paris.  The Institute will support and conduct research related to blockchain technology and crypto currencies. Its scientific board includes 11 experts from major French educational institutions, such as the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and École polytechnique. A committee of 6 practitioners, including co-founder of Ledger, Nicolas Bacca, and founder of the crypto exchange Paymium, Pierre Noizat, will also oversee the work of the Institute. Singapore plans joint crypto pilots with Japan, Switzerland and UK

Singapore’s central bank and financial regulator is seeking closer cross-border collaboration for its asset tokenization project. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the country’s central bank and financial regulator, is planning to start crypto -related cooperation with some European countries and Japan. The MAS officially announced on Oct. 30 that it is partnering with the Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA), the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) and the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to promote joint digital asset pilots . The authority specifically seeks to carry out such pilots in relation to fixed income, foreign exchange and asset management products. Four suspects face death penalty in South Korea crypto murder case

Four South Korean citizens are facing execution amid allegations that they kidnapped and murdered a woman over a failed crypto investment.  Lee Kyeong-woo, Hwang Dae-han, and Yeon Ji-ho were all indicted for kidnapping the 48-year-old victim in the Gangnam Ward, Seoul, on March 29. It’s claimed that they murder ed her the following day. Prosecutors allege that the accused were paid 70 million won ($51,000) by Yoo Sang-won and Hwang Eun-hee after the couple purchased 100 million won ($74,000) worth of virtual currency and invested 3 billion won ($2.2 million) at the victim’s recommendation in October 2020. Yoo and Hwang reportedly became embroiled in a dispute with the victim over the investment in struggling crypto ‘ fine dust coin ‘ when its price plummeted and they began to incur losses. BIS to oblige banks to disclose crypto exposure starting 2025

In a consultative document, the Basel Committee said the measures would reduce information asymmetry among banks and market participants. Financial institutions might soon be required to disclose their exposure to crypto currencies. The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, headquartered at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), has published a draft guidance on how banks should work with crypto holdings. The international committee is a conglomerate of bank supervisors from 28 jurisdictions, including powerhouses like the U.S., U.K., and European Union. A consultative document published on Oct. 17 proposed requiring banks to disclose activities “related to crypto assets and the approach used in assessing the classification conditions.” Under the proposals, banks would also have to disclose information on how they account for classifying exposures to cryptocurrencies, liabilities, and liquidity. Palestinian jihadists received USDT via Binance, says Israel

Tzahal, the Israeli Defense Force, sanctioned several Binance accounts and wallets on Tron’s blockchain. Israelis allege they belong to Palestinian Islamic Jihadists. An analysis by ChainArgos shows that those Tron wallets received 93.7 million Tether (USDT), much of which came from Audax Trading, a crypto scam.
